The Rat King is a mid-round antagonist that is triggered by the mouse migration station event. It is a player controlled ghost role that is unaligned with any other crew or factions. Though, this does not mean the Rat King is aggressive, as it is free to communicate and form deals and bonds with whoever it sees fit.

The Rat King has more health than the average crew member, moves slightly slower, and deals significantly more damage with his claws. They are also able to squeeze through doors that are not welded shut.

Though the Rat King has no innate goals or drive, it usually seeks out food in order to grow it's army. This is done through its abilities, which require food to be activated.

Raise Army

Spend some hunger to summon an allied rat to help defend you.

The Raise Army ability costs a small amount of food in order to summon an allied Rat Servant to help defend the Rat King. The Rat Servant is allied to the King and is slightly stronger than an average mouse. It, like the King, can communicate with crew members, but is also capable of fighting them off to protect their leader.

The Rat King is able to send its army of rats to attack someone by pointing at them. This will make all AI controlled Rats under the Rat King control attack that person and their faction. To stop them from attacking, all they have to do is to point at themselves.

Rat King's Domain

Spend some hunger to release a cloud of ammonia into the air.

The Rat King's Domain ability costs a moderate amount of food in order to release a small cloud of ammonia into the vicinity of the King. The ammonia not only heals the Rat King and the Rat Servants, but it also spreads diseases that the rats are immune to. It can be an effective tool in order to heal up the Rat King and his servants as well as zoning out attackers.

A Guide in Kingdom Building

It's pretty simple. Keep mashing your ability to raise rats button, hide in maintenance, eat food from the vending machines, kitchen or hydroponics, during your early vulnerable phase, and accumulate enough rats such that they can pose a threat to the station, even if they may do pitiful damage. Enough rats stacked up in one room can quickly swarm anyone they get close to and deal massive damage. In huge swarms, they're HILARIOUSLY LETHAL.

If you can find potential allies among the crew, consider talking with them. You might not be super useful, but your ability to talk with humans can get you places sometimes. Maybe some dastardly individuals could help you usurp the "King" of the space station and allow you to take their place as the one true ruler?

Don't fight directly, as you can be easily taken down without an army to back you up.
