Unidentified humanoid

Drones are small flying robots that try to fix up the station with their tools. They are unable to see humanoids besides occasional glimpses of unidentified humanoids which they cannot interact with.
Drones hold no loyalty to anyone but themselves, however their entire purpose is to maintain the integrity of their assigned space station.


Your Laws

Lower numbered laws take precedence in the absence of an explicit override or in-law precedence alteration.

You are bound by these laws both in-game and out-of-character:

  1. You may not involve yourself in the matters of another being, even if such matters conflict with Law Two or Law Three, unless the other being is another Drone.
  2. You may not harm any being, regardless of intent or circumstance.
  3. Your goals are to build, maintain, repair, improve, and power to the best of your abilities, You must never actively work against these goals.
  4. You may accept orders received via the binary channel, regardless of the nature of the being issuing them, so long as they do not conflict with Law Two or Law Three.

What your Laws mean

Laws 1 and 2 prohibit you from interacting with living beings. This includes unmutated humans, moths, silicons, monkeys, pets, slimes, animals, xenos, and basically anything that is not an object, another drone, or part of the station. You cannot help them, you cannot hurt them, and you cannot interact with them at all, ever. This does not mean you have to go out of your way to avoid living beings; they simply do not exist to you. Person in crit? Walk on by. Traitor murdering someone in maint? Not your problem. Xeno infestation? Just fix the holes they leave in the station.

Law 3 gives your mandate: station upkeep. This is not the same as prevention! Upkeep can include repairing hull breaches, cleaning bloodstains or vandalism, repairing power issues, and generally what a Station Engineer or Janitor never does. This is intentionally somewhat broad. For example, setting up the solars is definitely okay. Building a fort in maintenance is probably okay. Dragging around the nuclear authentication disk like a party train is not okay. And interacting with living beings in the process is never okay. If you see an active bomb, you leave it alone. There is no damage yet after all. Once it goes off, the station is damaged and only then does your third law come into play. Use common sense.

Law 4 allows you to receive information and orders. This one is purely so the Chief Engineer or anyone with access to your special binary channel can direct you towards issues on the station. This doesn't allow you to override Law 1 in any way. Treat like someone uploading a bunch of ones and zeroes, or binary, to you. You read that information and act upon it. If said order would conflict with any of the lower numbered laws, you don't follow with the order.

Nanotrasen stations being what they are, gray areas might sometimes arise. When in doubt, ahelp.

Your tools

From left to right:

  • Satchel: Useful for carrying various materials needed to maintain the station such as steel, glass, etc.
  • T-ray scanner: An essential tool that helps you see tubes and wires that are covered with tiles.
  • Omnitool: Your most important tool - combines the functionality of the wrench, screwdriver, wirecutter, multitool and the crowbar.
  • Experimental welding tool: Typically used to fix damaged walls and windows. This welder also automatically refuels, meaning that you don't have to worry about refueling.
  • Right hand: Can be used to carry various items, mainly materials. You can also use your spare hands to expand your arsenal of tools.
  • Another right hand: Same as above.
  • Hat slot: You're a robot, but who said you can't be stylish? Allows you to wear various hats and masks.
